The Carole King & James Taylor Story @ Boca Black Box
International Singer/songwriters Dan Clews and Phoebe Katis have cultivated the perfect Carole King & James Taylor tribute, performing as a duo, and providing a mixture of renowned hits, album tracks and history lessons for two artists who almost single handedly ushered in the singer/songwriter movement. Clews & Katis begin the story with Carole King’s early pre-performing days in the Brill Building, offering songs other artist’s made famous like "Pleasant Valley Sunday,” “Locomotion” and “Just Once in My Life.” From there, they shift to the history of James Taylor’s early recording days on The Beatles Apple Records, telling the story that includes Peter Asher’s vision and assistance, and Taylor’s rise to fame with “Fire and Rain." The two singers describe how Taylor encouraged Carole King to become a recording artist for the landmark “Tapestry” album; finishing the show with the song each artist made famous in 1971 — the international Goffin/King smash “You’ve Got a Friend.”
